The club has announced the return of Mervin Mbakera as the head coach, a move prompted by crucial license requirements for continental competitions.

Mbakera

Mbakera, who previously led the team to league victory, had obtained a CAF C license and subsequently pursued a CAF B license in Zambia at the end of the 2022/2023 season. However, due to the mandatory requirement of a CAF A license for a Head Coach in the CAF Champions League, African Stars had to secure a coach with the requisite credentials for their CAF Champions League Preliminary Rounds campaign.

While Mbakera possesses a CAF B license, the necessity of a CAF A license in the premier continental competition prompted the club's decision to temporarily replace him with George Koffie, who met the required qualifications. Koffie, equipped with a CAF A license, stepped in to guide the team through the crucial tournament.

The clarification of these license requirements and the urgency to comply with CAF regulations led to the reshuffling of coaching duties within African Stars Football Club. As a result, Mbakera's reinstatement as the head coach follows the club's commitment to align with the rigorous standards set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The club's management emphasized the importance of compliance with these licensing protocols while expressing gratitude to both coaches for their contributions and understanding during this transitional phase.
