Ontario, California - Saturday night at the LumColor “Phoenix Center” witnessed a thrilling lightweight clash as the unbeaten Ernesto “Tito” Mercado (13-0, 12 KOs) delivered a fantastic performance, securing a second-round TKO victory over Namibian former world title challenger Jeremia Nakathila (23-4, 19 KOs).
Mercado, displaying remarkable prowess and dominance from the opening bell. Mercado strategically dropped Nakathila in the second round, prompting a furious follow-up assault that compelled the referee to stop the fight. Although Nakathila protested the stoppage, the decision sealed Mercado's victory and solidified his undefeated streak.
The 33-year-old Nakathila has had an uneven last 30 months going the 12-round distance in a loss against Shakur Stevenson in July 2021, demolishing Miguel Berchelt inside six rounds in March 2022, and getting knocked out by Raymond Muratalla inside two rounds in May.
