Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, has named Karim Benzema as the top contender to win the Ballon d’Or award this season.
Benzema, who is now 35 years old, has played 31 games across various competitions for Real Madrid this season, scoring 25 goals and providing six assists.
Ancelotti's decision came after the 34-year-old striker scored three goals in their 4-0 victory against Barcelona on Wednesday night.
During the post-match press conference, Ancelotti was asked about the French forward's performance, to which he replied, “Benzema is back. He’s back.”
