Kavango West region road to the semifimal

The Kavango West Region team started their journey in the Namibian News Paper Cup 2023 with a convincing 4-2 win over their neighbour, The Kavango East Region team. The Kavango West team's performance was solid, with their attack having sharp and fresh legs.

In this match, the Player of the Match was given to Pius Kapwita, a Kavango West striker, who scored a brace. 

Their second game in the tournament was against The Oshikoto Region team. The Kavango West team had a tough time in this match, Oshikoto Region lead them by 1:0 within 30 minutes, add on that, they were also reduced to 10 men as their striker (Pius Kapwita) was sent off before the break, nevertheless, they find the back of the net in the stoppage time. The game ended in a 1:1 draw. 

In this match, the player of the match was given to the Oshikoto region player, which raised many questions if this was right because the Kavango West region team was reduced to 10 men but yet managed to rescue the point coming from behind, the result shows that the Kavango team players were better than Oshikoto players. 

The third game of the tournament saw Kavango West face off against the Omaheke Region team. The game was a tense affair, with both teams playing some excellent football. 

Kavango West was able to secure a 1-0 win, thanks to a goal from Peter Ngongo Daniel. The Omaheke Region coach was also sent off, adding to the drama of the game.

In this match, the match was given to The Kavango West region Goalker, Daniel Kangayi.

Okavango West finished on top of group A and secured its place in the Semi-finals of the tournament. Their performance in the group stage has been impressive, with the team displaying some excellent football and a strong team spirit. The team will now be looking to carry this momentum into the Semi-finals and beyond.

In the semifinal, Kavango West will face Hardap region, while the host, Otjozondjupa will face Oshana Region.
