Football fans in Namibia were treated to an exciting final of the Namibian Newspaper Cup 2023 as Kavango West and Otjozondjupa Region battled it out for the ultimate prize on the 10th of April 2023.
The match was played in a packed stadium in Otjiwarongo, and it was an intense encounter from start to finish.
In the end, it was Kavango West who emerged victorious, winning the match 2-0 and becoming the new champions of the Namibian Newspaper Cup 2023. The team had never won the cup before or even reached the semi-finals, so this was a historic moment for them and the region.

In the second half, Kavango West came out with renewed energy and determination. They took the lead Pius Kapwita, who scored a beautiful goal, much to the delight of their fans. With the clock ticking down, Kapwita doubled their lead in the late minutes, securing their victory and the championship.
One of the standout players of the match was Pius Kapwita, who was named the man of the match. Kapwita had been in great form throughout the tournament, scoring in all the matches he played the full game. He is also one of the players who is likely to be considered for the Player of the Tournament award.
