Christine Mboma, the Olympic Silver medalist from Namibia, who, along with several other African athletes, faced a temporary ban due to their Differential Sexual Development (DSD) condition, is making significant strides in her journey back to competitive athletics, updated by her coach, Henk Botha

Christine Mboma was out of the athletics competitions for a while after the implementation of new regulations by the World Athletics Organization, which took effect in March this year. These rules require athletes with DSD to reduce their blood testosterone levels to below 2.5 nanomoles per liter, marking a reduction from the previous threshold of five nanomoles.

Mboma's coach, Henk Botha, recently provided insights into her current situation and her path back to the track. According to Botha, the young athlete has already commenced training, raising hopes for her imminent return to competitive sports. Other sources cloth to Botha reported.

"Yes, Christine is progressing well with her training, and she is gearing up to compete in her first competition in March next year. We are quite enthusiastic about her performance on the track next year, which will mark her return to competitive action," Coach Botha confirmed.

There have been concerns about the potential impact of the medication and treatment on Mboma's performance. However, when asked about this, Coach Botha expressed optimism, saying:

"We are eagerly awaiting her performance in her first competition. As of now, we have not observed any negative impacts on her performance. Her speed remains intact, and we are eagerly anticipating her performance next year as she works to once again bring pride to Namibia."

Christine Mboma's journey to overcome the challenges posed by the new DSD regulations and her commitment to returning to the athletics arena has been met with widespread support and excitement, both within Namibia and among sports enthusiasts worldwide. She is expecting to return to competition in March 2024.
