Manchester United has officially confirmed that Rúben Amorim will take charge as the club’s new manager starting November 11, during the international break. The Red Devil fired Erik Ten Hug after a poor starts which find them on the 14th place on the league stand.
The 39-year-old Portuguese manager, who has led Sporting CP with remarkable success, will make his debut with United on November 24 in a highly anticipated match against Ipswich Town.
Amorim's contract runs until June 2027, with an option for an additional season. Sporting CP will receive a €11 million compensation fee, allowing Amorim to step into one of the most prominent managerial roles in European football.
Since taking over Sporting CP in March 2020, Amorim has led the club to an impressive 77% win rate, the highest among any team across Europe’s top 10 leagues. Under his leadership, Sporting has won 120 of their last 156 matches, a statistic that has cemented Amorim's reputation as one of the most promising young managers in Europe.
At 39, Amorim becomes the youngest manager in Manchester United’s Premier League history. His appointment has stirred excitement among the squad, with players like Leny Yoro, Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund, and André Onana showing their support by liking the club's announcement post.
