The Real Madrid Foundation is conducting a football training workshop in Opuwo this week as part of its ongoing clinic initiative.
This program aims to provide sports education and instill values in children aged 5 to 14 through football. Over 70 boys and girls from six primary schools in Opuwo are taking part in the week-long training sessions.
At the opening ceremony, Spain’s ambassador, Alberto De La Calle Garcia, emphasized that the clinics offer more than just football skills. He noted that the sessions are designed to teach discipline, equality, respect, and promote the overall well-being of the participants.
“You’ll gain more than just football skills. You’ll not only enhance your physical abilities but also develop valuable life lessons,” he said.
Program manager, Timo Tjongarero, mentioned that this Opuwo clinic is the final one for the year, with the goal of setting up primary school leagues and encouraging the formation of regional teams from an early age.
Tjongarero also highlighted that selected regional teams will compete against each other, with the aim of selecting players for the national squad.
