Namibia Officially Out of AFCON 2025

NAMIBIA BRAVE WARRIOR

The Brave Warriors of Namibia faced yet another defeat at the hands of Zimbabwe today, marking their fifth consecutive loss in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. With this result, Namibia is officially out of the running to qualify for the tournament.

This is a back-to-back loss against Zimbabwe, who beat Namibia 1-0 last week in South Africa. Due to circumstances beyond their control, Namibia has been forced to play their "home" matches away from home, hosting games in South Africa rather than on Namibian soil.

Former Brave Warriors player Willy Stephanus, now with African Stars FC, shared a message of support on social media ahead of the game:

"Match day.. my fellow ballers, as a baller myself I know the struggles you go through of not having the 12th man behind your back when it’s game day... most people won’t understand the importance of home ground advantage, but once you put on that jersey today, let’s forget what we go through and represent the nation 🇳🇦 in the best way we can.. God speed lads 🙏🏽."

Despite the motivation, the Brave Warriors now find themselves at the bottom of the group standings with zero points. Cameroon leads the group with 10 points, followed by Zimbabwe with 8, and Kenya sitting third with 4 points. With two matches left in the campaign, even winning both will not help Namibia secure a spot at AFCON 2025.

The string of losses has also taken a toll on Namibia's FIFA ranking, which continues to drop as the team struggles to find form.
