The Frank Fredericks Foundation has awarded a N$20,000 scholarship to Namibian sprinter Ndawana Haitembu, supporting her pursuit of an Honours degree in Sports Management at the University of Johannesburg.
Haitembu, a specialist in the 100m, 200m, and relay events, has been widely recognized for her dedication to both athletics and academics. Her commitment to excellence has been described as inspiring, setting an example for aspiring athletes.
Her academic journey includes earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) in 2023. She further enhanced her qualifications by completing the International-Level Athletes Education Program Certificate from the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2024.
On the track, Haitembu has demonstrated outstanding performance, securing silver medals in the 100m and 200m events at the 2024 National Senior Championships.
Speaking on the scholarship award, Frank Fredericks, the foundation’s founder and four-time Olympic silver medalist, emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting young athletes.
"We are delighted by your dedication to both sports and education. You are doing, and have done, exceptionally well. We wish you the best with your studies," said Fredericks.
