A groundbreaking moment unfolded in the Namibian Debmarine Premiership as referee communication devices were used for the first time during an elite league match. The historic match, held at the UNAM Stadium, featured Bucks Buccaneers FC and Cuca Tops FC, who played to a 1-1 draw.
The spotlight, however, was on Twanyanyukwa “D’ Maria” Antsino, the center referee for the match. Antsino, recognized as one of the continent's top female referees, purchased the devices personally, demonstrating her commitment to enhancing officiating standards in Namibian football.

The communication devices, worn by Antsino and her assistants, are expected to improve coordination and decision-making during matches.
Antsino's efforts have not gone unnoticed, as her stellar career continues to gain international recognition. Recently, she has been selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate at the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championships (CHAN) 2025.
She is the only Namibian referee chosen for the tournament, Antsino will represent the nation on the continental stage from February 1 to 28, with matches hosted across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
This development marks a turning point for the Debmarine Premiership, signaling a commitment to modernization and excellence in Namibian football. Fans and stakeholders alike hope it will pave the way for further advancements in the league.
However, it's up to NFA to introduce the devices to all officials or to only see to some matches officiate by Twanyanyukwa “D’ Maria” Antsino.
